Summer is closing in on another year at Stockdale Independent School District.

High school graduation is set for Friday, May 30, at 7 p.m. in the gymnasium. Please get there early to get a good seat.

We have had a wonderful week of banquets to celebrate the many achievements of our students. A big thanks goes out to the FFA, athletics, and band for having great events to support our students!

Speaking of FFA ... Matthew Hartman has been very busy this week. He won our chapter talent competition, advancing him to district. At district, he placed first, advancing him to area competition. Our area consists of more than 11,000 FFA members. Matt competed against seven other districts at area and came away with first place again. Matt will be performing on the big stage in Fort Worth this summer at the state convention trying to earn the state title. I just wanted to pass on the good news and if you see him, wish him luck this summer!

Teachers of the month for April include Denay Simpson, elementary school; Tabitha Borchardt, junior high school; and James Williams, high school.

Here is wishing everyone a happy summer break.

Paul Darilek is the superintendent of the Stockdale Independent School District.
