ESD No. 2 plans sales-tax election at May 19 meeting
The board of commissioners for the Wilson County Emergency Services District (ESD) No. 2 tentatively has set Sept. 15 as the date of a town-hall meeting. This is according to board President Bill Kenney following the board’s May 19 meeting.
The district is considering asking voters in the Eagle Creek area served by the ESD to approve the implementation of a sales tax, which would fund the district’s needs. Kenney said the ESD’s plans for the money also will be discussed.
The board at its May 19 meeting also received an unqualified -- or clean -- opinion related to its fiscal year 2013 financial audit, for which the board paid $5,000.
Also related to professional services, the ESD board voted to renew its contract with its attorney, Louis T. Rosenberg. He will be compensated at a rate of $200 per hour, with paralegals to receive $95 per hour.
In other business, the board learned that Tricia Olson has retired as the emergency medical services director for the ESD’s fire and ambulance service provider, Eagle Creek Volunteer Emergency Services. Christi Merendon is her successor.
