Karter Leighton Krenek was taken from his family, an angel who brought much joy and love to those around him in just two short months. Born on March 11, 2014, he passed away on Monday, May 19, 2014, in the North Central Baptist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas.

He was preceded in death and will be surrounded by the love in heaven of his maternal great-grandparents, Daniel and Janie Young and Lawrence and Betsy Melenesk, all formerly of La Vernia; and paternal great-grandparents Daniel Krenek, formerly of La Grange, and Alfonce and Rosie Cerny, formerly of El Campo.

Karter is missed so deeply and survived by his parents, Nathan and Tracey Krenek of Canyon Lake, and his big brother, Kaleb. He will be dearly missed by his maternal grandparents, Robert and Sarah Young of La Vernia, paternal grandparents Donald and Shirley Krenek of Wallis, and paternal great-grandparent Lillian Krenek of La Grange. Also so saddened are aunts and uncles Chad and Nina Krenek, Bobby and Tracey Young, Christine Young and Hank Perez; his cousins, Cole and Cassidy Krenek, Blake and Brooke Young, and Hannah Perez; as well as many other family members and friends.

Visitation was held on Friday, May 23, from 5-8 p.m., with a sharing of memories at 7 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in La Vernia.

A funeral service was held on Saturday at 10 a.m. in the St. Ann Catholic Church in La Vernia, officiated by the Rev. Stanislaw Fiuk.

Interment followed in the Sutherland Springs Cemetery near Sutherland Springs.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
