1916-2014

William T. Callaway, born Oct. 24, 1916, in the Marcelina community of Wilson County, Texas, to John Newton and Connie Mae Rees Callaway, passed away at the age of 97 on Tuesday, May 20, 2014.

William honorably served his country during World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps. He retired after 33 years of service as the director of mail processing with the U.S. Postal Service. He also was a founding member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.

The family wishes to acknowledge the Cervenka family and Keith Porter for the many comforting visits, as well as the staff of Country Care Manor for their exceptional care.

William was preceded in death by his wife, Lurline Callaway, in 1984.

He is survived by his brother, Connie Calloway and wife Ella Mae; nephew and caregiver Steve Calloway and wife Rose; and numerous other nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Thursday, May 22, at 5 p.m. in Mission Park Funeral Chapels South in San Antonio.

A funeral service was held on Friday at 1 p.m. in the funeral chapel.

Interment followed in the Mission Burial Park South in San Antonio.
