Alvin and Helen Malik were married on April 24, 1954, in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Panna Maria, Texas. They celebrated 60 years in the same church on April 27, 2014. They were also celebrating Helen’s 80th birthday, which was on May 11.

After the service, a reception was held in the Panna Maria diner. It was hosted by their six children, Tony and Judy Malik of Seguin, Gerald and Marilyn Malik of Karnes City, Bobby and Yvonne Alexander of Kenedy, Charles Malik and Leticia Martinez of Karnes City, James and Shellie Malik of San Antonio, and John and Laurie Malik of New Braunfels. They also have 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Also in attendance were Helen’s sister and her two brothers. Alvin’s sister was unable to attend due to her health.

After a brief program and slide show of their lives together, a dinner of roast beef and side dishes was served. The meal was catered by Witte’s of La Vernia. Dessert was anniversary and birthday cakes made by Viv’s of Victorian Country. Flowers for the occasion were also by Victorian Country.
