FLORESVILLE -- Crews from the Floresville Electric Light & Power System (FELPS) and San Antonio-based CPS Energy continue making repairs at a FELPS substation on A Street in Floresville following an outage June 5. Beginning at approximately 10:30 a.m., power was reported to be out from the River Bend residential subdivision off U.S. 181 Business in Floresville, throughout most of the city, and extending as far south as Poth.

FELPS General Manager Kyle Dicke said the outage was caused by an equipment failure in the substation. Service was restored just after 1 p.m., when crews transferred the load to another transformer there. Everything is expected to be back to normal by the afternoon of June 6, he said.

FELPS customers should be thankful that they live in a fairly stable part of Texas. Outages in the Tornado Alley occur more often and last longer. In addition, they affect a far greater number of people. Stop complaining ... More ›
