Committee OKs two subdivisions
WILLIAM J. GIBBS JR./Reprints at wilsoncountynews.com —
Developer Kevin Brown addresses the Wilson County Development Review Committee at its June 5 meeting about his plans for Unit 7 of the Abrego Lake subdivision.
The increased demand for residential construction continues to keep the Wilson County Development Review Committee busy.
At its June 5 meeting, the committee approved the plat for Unit 7 of the Abrego Lakes subdivision, located off U.S. 181 north of Floresville. According to developer Kevin Brown, 26 of the 28 lots will be developed, with the remaining two lots being left for a drainage easement.
The committee also approved Unit 1 of the Westfield Ranch subdivision, where 28 residential lots will be developed off F.M. 3432 near the Kicaster community.
Final approval of both plats rests with the Wilson County Commissioners Court.
In other business, the committee discussed possible noncompliance by a recreational-vehicle (RV) park that has been established on S.H. 97 East, near the highway’s intersection with C.R. 306 outside Floresville. The committee’s Chairman Edwin Baker said a manufactured home was to be moved to the site, but “several RVs” have been parked there over the past year.
County officials have been unsuccessful in making contact with the landowner, despite visits to the site, he said, and there were three RVs there prior to the start of the meeting. The Wilson County Attorney’s Office now is reviewing relevant laws to determine additional steps that can be taken before sending a certified letter to the property owner.
Also in attendance: Wilson County Pct. 2 Commissioner Paul Pfeil and Pct. 4 Commissioner Larry Wiley, Assistant County Attorney Katherine Chapman, and Emergency Management Coordinator LeAnn Hosek.
