Offer condolences


Roland Gusman, 68, of Seguin, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, June 4, 2014. Roland was born on Oct. 16, 1945, in Stockdale to Joe V. and Catherine (Perez) Gusman.

He was a 1964 graduate of Stockdale High School. He received his bachelor’s degree in 1968 and his master’s degree in public school administration in 1974, both from Southwest Texas State University (Texas State). He retired as a public school administrator from the East Central Independent School District in San Antonio. Roland will be remembered as an avid golfer. Roland loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and he will be missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Eugene Gusman.

Roland is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Grace Lopez Gusman; son Christopher Gusman and wife Nydia; daughter Noelle Alvarado and husband Michael; grandchildren Clarisa, Cristian, and Cebastian Gusman and Austin, Drew, and Zoe Alvarado; brother Joe Tom Gusman and wife Geneva; sister-in-law Mary Gusman; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other loving family members.

Visitation was held on Friday, June 6, at 5 p.m. with a recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m. in the Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel in Seguin.

A Mass of Christian burial was held on Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Stockdale, with the Rev. Dennis Jarzombek officiating.

Interment followed in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Stockdale.

Serving as pallbearers were Esteban Lopez, Wendell Watson, Hubert Watson, Trip Presley, Terry Peel, and Tommy Zuberbueller.
