Louis John Stobb Sr., a lifelong resident of Wilson County, Texas, passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at 8:08 p.m. in the Floresville Residence and Rehabilitation Center in Floresville at the age of 87 years, 6 months, and 14 days. Louis was born Nov. 21, 1926, in Dewees, the son of Louis and Minnie Wentzel Stobb.

After his schooling, Louis worked as a farmer and a rancher his entire life. He married Clara Andrea Roueche on Sept. 1, 1972. Clara, Louis’ wife of more than 39 years, preceded him in death on May 6, 2012. Louis was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Poth.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Clara Stobb; his two brothers; and his two sisters.

Louis is survived by his children, Louis Stobb Jr. and girlfriend Janie Vera of San Antonio, Jimmy Stobb of Floresville, Ricky Holloway of San Antonio, David Holloway of San Antonio, and Margaret Sterner and husband James of San Antonio; his four grandchildren, Nathan Sterner, Elizabeth Sterner, Steven Sterner, and Kylie Stobb; and his six great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Friday, June 6, at 5 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. in the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel in Poth.

A funeral service was held on Saturday at 10 a.m. in the St. John Lutheran Church in Poth, officiated by Pastor Kelly Tankersley.

Interment followed in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Poth.

Serving as pallbearers were Roger Koenning, Tom Gardner, Kenneth Jarzombek, Jonathan Kyrish, Carl Hoefelmeyer, and James Noll.
