Blake Adam Lyssy is the 2014 salutatorian of Poth High School. He is the son of Harvey and Amy Lyssy of Poth, and brother of Lyndsay and Zachary, who both currently attend Texas State University, and younger sister, Jordan Lyssy. Blake’s cousins, Kaylee and Braden Lyssy, also served as class salutatorians of Poth High School. He is the grandson of Lorraine Lyssy of Kosciusko and the late Fabian Lyssy and the late Mr. and Mrs. Laddie Liska, formerly of Falls City.

Blake holds a 4.0 grade-point average, is an honor student, and has completed 24 college dual-credit hours. He was voted Mr. PHS of Who’s Who in PHS by his graduating class and is the recipient of the Army Strong National Scholar & Athlete Award. He received outstanding student awards in Accounting I and II, Geometry PAP, Algebra II, Spanish I and II, and Pre-Calculus PAP. He was a member of the UIL Accounting Team, advancing to regionals two years.

Blake has also lettered in football, baseball, and track all four years, was captain his senior year, and played basketball one year. His accomplishments include Academic All-District, second-team secondary, and second-team wide receiver in football; and All-District outfield, first team outfield his junior year, second-team outfield as a sophomore, and Academic All-District in baseball. In track, Blake was a regional qualifier in the 800-meter relay his freshman year, and district champ and regional qualifier in the long jump his junior year.

Blake was named Homecoming Duke as a freshman and Prince his senior year. He also participated in the Miss Cibolo Creek Pageant, Shattered Dreams, and the prom committee. Blake was the junior class treasurer, voted freshman class favorite, sophomore class Fall Court representative, and Student Council representative.

Outside of school, Blake served as a leader of Teen ACTS, and is currently serving as the director of Poth for Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Falls City, where he enjoys encouraging teens about their faith. He is a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Poth. He enjoys playing sports, hunting, fishing, and cooking in the outdoors.

Blake will attend Texas State University in San Marcos, and has been accepted into McCoy Business School, where he will pursue a degree in accounting.
