Marvin Davis, the second-highest-ranking senior at East Central High School, will be attending Trinity University in the fall, where he will major in research-based mechanical engineering and minor in art. Marvin has been in ECISD for eight years attending Oak Crest Intermediate School, Heritage Middle School, and finally East Central High School. Marvin’s scholarships include Trinity University Trustees and Lone Star Grand Commandery of Texas Scholarship.

In his four years at East Central, Marvin has served as vice president of the National Honor Society, president of the National Art Honor Society, and vice president of Art Club, and has been a member of Beta Club and Spanish Honor Society.

His numerous honors and awards include being named Most Likely to Succeed by his peers and awarded Student of the Month. He was a National Beta Club Quiz Bowl participant and nominated for prom king. Furthermore, his artwork was featured in the Blue Star Contemporary Art Gallery, and he was a state medalist for VASE. Marvin was also awarded the Award of Excellence at state VASE, and won a Silver Key in the Scholastic Art and Writing event.

Outside of school, Marvin serves as a mentor for the Boys and Girls Club of San Antonio and a clinical assistant at the Brady Green Clinic.

“In my own life and the life of a person who is seeking to be strong, you combine in your character antitheses clearly defined. You are both militant and moderate; you are both idealistic and realistic. I have diligently worked toward the attainment of such strength by challenging myself academically through the Honors Colloquium program and Advanced Placement courses while simultaneously completing two art portfolios with one based in drawing and the other in 2-D design,” Marvin said.

Marvin is the son of Marlon and Katrina Davis of San Antonio.
