Corinne Morkovsky is the valedictorian of Floresville High School’s graduating class of 2014. Corinne is the 18-year-old daughter of Shelley and Russell Morkovsky. Her two siblings, Travis and Molly, are graduates of Floresville High School’s classes of 2011 and 2013, respectively.

Corinne will be graduating with honors as a distinguished graduate. For each year of high school, Corinne has been named to the A Honor Roll. She was also recognized for perfect attendance as both a freshman and a sophomore. She has received numerous class awards, including Outstanding Student of the Year Award for dance, Pre-AP English I, Pre-AP English II, Spanish II, Pre-AP World Geography, and Principles of Agriculture. Upon graduation, she will have earned 24 hours of college credit.

Corinne is also a leader among her peers, both in the classroom and in extracurricular activities. She currently serves as president of the National Honor Society chapter at Floresville High School. Additionally, Corinne was a proud member of the Floresville Tigerette Dance Team for three years, serving as the team’s colonel during her junior year. An active member of the FFA throughout all four years of high school, she has held the offices of both secretary and vice president and been a member of the Milk Quality & Products and Agricultural Issues teams. She received the Star Greenhand award during her freshman year and earned her Chapter Degree as a sophomore. Corinne has also been involved in student government, serving as a student representative her freshman year and class secretary her junior year. Corinne is also an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Floresville, serving as a team member for the church’s annual Teen ACTS retreats.

When not busy with academics and extracurricular activities, Corinne is volunteering her time in the community. One of her most significant accomplishments is being named Queen Tunaep LXIX of the Floresville Peanut Festival Court of Broadway Lights. Corinne represents our community by traveling to festivals across South Texas, and in her capacity as Queen Tunaep, she has volunteered at the Peanut Festival blood drive, the Rosenberg & Rotter Cowboy Breakfast, and Sacred Heart School’s Wine & Art Festival, among other events. With the FFA, Corinne has gone caroling at local nursing homes at Christmastime, participated in highway cleanup projects, spent time hanging peanuts in downtown Floresville for the annual Peanut Festival, and assisted with hog and steer validations.

Corinne has been awarded several scholarships for her academic and extracurricular efforts throughout high school, including a $20,000 Mays Business School scholarship, a $10,000 Lechner scholarship, a $1,000 Opportunity Award, and a Top 10 Percent State Scholarship.

Corinne is excited to be heading to Texas A&M University in College Station in the fall, where she will be studying in the business honors program.
