‘Blaydes of Grass’ gets ok from ESD
Pending approval of fire-flow plans by an engineer, the Wilson County Emergency Services District (ESD) No. 2 has pledged its support of the proposed “Blaydes of Grass” residential subdivision. This was the result of a unanimous vote at the ESD board’s June 16 meeting.
ESD board President Bill Kenney said a letter from Jason Staudt of Rakowitz Engineering & Surveying asked the district to determine whether it was capable of providing fire and ambulance services -- through its partnership with the Eagle Creek Volunteer Emergency Service -- to the new subdivision.
It is not known how many homes will be built on the 37.58-acre parcel. Kenney said the former peanut field near the intersection of U.S. 181 and F.M. 775 north of Floresville will be divided into three tracts, measuring approximately 11 acres each. A roadway to be constructed on the property will connect the two highways.
Construction is expected to start in December and Kenney estimates the first houses should be erected by February 2015.
