The Floresville High School Air Force Junior ROTC-sponsored triathlon team took on the Capital of Texas Sprint distance event in Austin on May 26 -- Memorial Day. The 16-mile course included a 1-mile swim, 12-mile bike, and 3-mile run.

All seven team members of the Floresville team earned the coveted triathlon finisher’s medal for successfully negotiating the demanding course.

In the Sprint distance division, the top Floresville male finisher was cadet Jeremy Gaudlitz, with a time of 1 hour, 40 minutes. The top Floresville female finisher was cadet Ronda Ruiz, with a time of 1 hour, 46 minutes. Elizabeth Montelongo was close behind with a time of 1 hour and 49 minutes.

In the 10-mile mini-Sprint division, Elizabeth Eckert was the top finishing Floresville triathlete. From among more than 2,500 competitors, Floresville High School freshman Nathan Pianfetti, at age 15, was among the youngest triathletes to successfully earn a finisher’s medal. Also completing their first triathlon were Aaron Gaudlitz and Cody Trevino.

Congratulations, Floresville High School triathletes!
