Falls City ISD selects contractor
Bartlett Cocke General Contractors has been selected as the construction manager at risk for the Falls City Independent School District’s (ISD) upcoming construction project. Superintendent Tylor Chaplin said after the June 25 special meeting of the board of trustees that the project’s estimated cost is $33 million.
Bartlett Cocke’s proposal scored the highest among six that were submitted. The firm’s preconstruction cost will not exceed $17,500. With regard to construction, the company is set to collect 2.29 percent of the project’s overall cost -- or $773,200.
Falls City ISD is financing the project mostly with the sale of $30 million in bonds, a move approved by voters in November. The money will pay for construction of a new kindergarten through 12th grade facility across the street from the district’s current building -- which will be demolished. The project also includes athletic fields. (See “Falls City ISD OKs Chapter 41 options,” Nov. 13, 2013.)
Bartlett Cocke previously has performed renovation and construction work locally in both the East Central and La Vernia ISDs.
