FELPS fills board vacancy
Sharon Tanneberger will succeed the late Roger Miller as La Vernia’s representative on the Floresville Electric Light & Power System board of trustees, said FELPS General Manager Kyle Dicke following the board’s June 25 meeting.
Miller, who was appointed in December 2013, would have served for four years. However, he was killed in a multi-vehicle crash on S.H. 97 east of Floresville, just minutes after leaving the board’s March 26 meeting.
Tanneberger is the wife of Marlin Tanneberger, Miller’s predecessor on the board.
Also during the meeting, the board voted to write off $9,643.04 in bad debt. Dicke said, “This was from several accounts, most of which had very small or no meter security deposits in place.”
FELPS has struggled with customers who disconnect and leave large, unpaid final bills behind. This is why, he said, the utility is focusing more on collecting deposits at the time of activation. The practice falls in line with other changes to terms and conditions, meant to turn the tide of delinquency. (See “FELPS board tightens utility payment policies,” March 5.)
