Dorothy May Riley Pennartz passed away on Friday, June 27, 2014, in Floresville, Texas, at the age of 76 years and 3 days. She was born on June 24, 1938, in Floresville to Alene Freeman and Virgil Lee Riley Sr.

She was a lifelong resident of Floresville and a schoolteacher in Falls City for many years.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Donna Kathleen Pennartz; and brother Virgil Riley Jr.

She is survived by her husband, Bert Louis Pennartz Sr. of Floresville; daughter Dorothy Nannette “Nan” Ray of Floresville; sons Bert Pennartz Jr. and wife Janet of Floresville and Martin Alen Pennartz wife Gail of Birch Harbor, Maine; sister Mary Ellen Valbert and husband Gilbert of Martinsville, Ind.; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

Visitation was held on Monday, June 30, at 6 p.m. in the Franklin Funeral Home in Floresville.

A funeral service was held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Sil Ornelas.

Interment followed in the Evergreen Cemetery in Wilson County.

Serving as pallbearers were Clint Pennartz, Chad Pennartz, Eric Ray, Chad Small, Joel Strong, Virgil Riley, Houston Riley, and Jared Semlinger.
