1936-2014

Daniel Robert Miller, formerly of Nixon, Texas, died Thursday, June 26, 2014, in San Antonio. He was born June 14, 1936, in South Side Township, Wright County, Minn., to Fred and Pearl (Waldron) Miller.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Janie (Trigo) Miller on Feb. 28, 2008; and a brother, Fred Miller.

He is survived by his children, Michael R. Miller and wife Joann, Roderick Miller, Donald Miller and wife Virginia, J.D. Miller and wife Tennelle, Dale Miller, and Danella Virtue and husband Terry; his grandchildren, Donald Miller Jr., Christopher Miller, Tiffany Gonzalez, Stephanie Caka, Payton Miller, and Linda Virtue; a sister, Florence Duret; 11 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends.

Visitation was held on Sunday, June 29, from 5-8 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in Nixon.

A graveside funeral service was held on Monday at 9 a.m. in the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, officiated by the Rev. Michael Cowey.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors; or to a charity of one’s choice.
