The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo awarded 70 Texas 4-H members with four-year, $18,000 college scholarships totaling $1.26 million during the Texas 4-H Roundup in College Station.

One of the oldest Show scholarship programs, Texas 4-H members have received more than 2,200 scholarships since the Show’s first major educational scholarship was awarded in 1957.

The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo 4-H scholars will attend 19 different colleges across the state, and pursue 39 different majors, from agribusiness to aerospace engineering. For the first time, graduating scholars will receive Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo life memberships to encourage them to continue their relationship with the organization.

Among the recipients are: Joshua Hall of Bexar County; Cameron Bargfrede of Guadalupe County; and John Flieller, Alyssa Kopecki, and Jessica Puente, all of Wilson County.
