Committee approves swap of cabin spots for RV park
The Wilson County Development Review Committee has given a favorable review to a proposal that would convert eight former cabin lots into recreational vehicle (RV) lots in the Pecan Springs RV Park on Sutherland Springs Road near Floresville. The final decision will rest with the Wilson County Commissioners Court.
The vote at the committee’s July 2 meeting was only a formality. Committee Chairman Edwin Baker said after the meeting that the county views RVs and cabins the same, unless the latter is built on a permanent foundation.
In other business, the committee discussed potential noncompliance for the Woodlands subdivision located off F.M. 775 near La Vernia. Baker said plans include a proposed commons area, but that the developer does not want to have a homeowners association -- often called an “HOA.” Commons areas include parks, flood plain easements, and bar ditches that are not platted for residential development.
“Years ago, the commissioners court said it didn’t want any more parks, because the county can’t maintain them,” Baker said. “So if they have a commons area, they have to have an HOA. We told them they had to have it in order to maintain the commons area.”
