1927-2014

Pearl S. Kotara, 86, passed away in her care center in Floresville, Texas, on Wednesday, July 2, 2014. She was at peace and had been surrounded by family and friends for several days before her passing. She was born Oct. 24, 1927, to Willie and Cecilia Sekula in Cestohowa, and was the oldest of three children.

She attended school in Cestohowa and when she was 18 she met Vincent Kotara of Panna Maria. They were married Oct. 19, 1948. She and Vincent were the proud parents of three boys and they were blessed with six grandchildren. Pearl was also blessed with four great-grandchildren. Pearl was a member of the Altar Society at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Cestohowa. She was employed in her early years at the Floresville hospital as part of the dietary staff. She was loyal and generous to her friends, a devoted mother and wife, and wonderful caregiver for her family. She will be greatly missed by all, said her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent.

Pearl is survived by her sons, Denis Kotara and wife Glenda of Poth, Rick Kotara and wife Ginny of Kerrville, and Rodney Kotara and wife Cheryl of Poth; grandchildren Tracy, Darin, Jordan, Brett, Kelly, and Kate; four great-grandchildren, Ashleigh, Blake, Dillon, and Abby; her sister, Grace Britsch of San Antonio; brother Willie Sekula Jr. of Falls City; and three nephews.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 10, at 5 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. in the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Cestohowa.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at noon in the church.

Interment will follow in the Cestohowa Cemetery in Cestohowa.

Serving as pallbearers will be Mark Britsch, Tommy Moody, Brice Britsch, Michael Kotara, Brett Kotara, and Darin Kotara.
