Immanuel Lutheran Church is now hiring for a Youth and Family Ministry Director. Pastoral: Minister to youth and their families during Sunday School and other church programs, being present in their lives outside the church walls, available for common concerns and in crisis situations. Leadership: Recruit and nurture Youth and Family Ministry program. Administration : Manage the planning process and coordinate with Pastor and Youth Committee all regular ministries to youth and their families. This includes youth of all ages on Sunday mornings and mid-week events; assisting with Confirmation, special events, trips and retreats, and parent meetings. Stewardship: Ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of youth programs, manage youth ministry budget, and collaborate with the sponsors of each Youth group. Ability to build, lead, and empower youth. Ability to implement a ministry vision. Familiarity with Lutheran Doctrine required; must be comfortable teaching it and representing Lutheran Theology. Proficient computer skills using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database, email, internet, and social media. Supervisory experience preferred. Ability to adapt and evaluate curriculum preferred. Must have excellent organization, communication (verbal and written), and listening skills, with a high degree of initiative and accountability. Exceptional interpersonal and relational skills required, with sensitivity to church members and visitors. Understanding and enjoyment of youth and families and guiding their spiritual development. Henry Benjamin Gorzell, a lifelong resident of Kosciusko, Texas, entered eternal rest Thursday, July 3, 2014, in his residence in Kosciusko at the age of 82 years, 6 months, and 21 days. He was born Dec. 12, 1931, the son of Joseph and Lucy Gorzell.

Henry attended school in Kosciusko, and married Emily Sylvia Pollok in Panna Maria on Nov. 12, 1952. He provided for his family by working as a farmer, mechanic, and carpenter.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Henry is survived by his loving wife of more than 61 years, Emily Gorzell; his children, Shirley Gorzell of Live Oak, Richard Gorzell and wife Annette of Kosciusko, Jeanette Hester and husband Steve of Kosciusko, Henry Gorzell Jr. and wife Shelly of Falls City, Kathleen Kosub of Live Oak, Joseph Gorzell and wife Melinda of Karnes City, and Lester Gorzell and wife Kathy of La Vernia; his grandchildren, Keith Gorzell and wife Alex, Brandon Gorzell and wife Liz, Kristen Buehring and husband Travis, Cody Gorzell, Shannon and Jeremy Hester, Allison Bollman-Gorzell, Amanda Gorzell, Lauren, Christopher, Jessica, and Julie Kosub, Shaun Gorzell, Devon Gorzell and wife Shanna, and Jordan Gorzell and wife Ashton; his stepgrandchildren, Alex and Andrew Contancio, Brittany and Jordan Morales, and Francesca and Adriana Padron; his great-grandchildren, Shiloh, Chelsea, Aria, Breelee, Kaiden, and Madelyn; and his stepgreat-grandchildren, Skylar, Jaiden, Trey, Elizabeth, Tyler, and Aubrey.

Visitation was held on Monday, July 7, at 5 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. in the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel in Poth.

A funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Poth, officiated by the Rev. Gregory Szewczyk.

Interment followed in the St. Ann Catholic Cemetery in Kosciusko.

Serving as pallbearers were Keith Gorzell, Brandon Gorzell, Cody Gorzell, Christopher Kosub, Devon Gorzell, Jordan Gorzell, Jeremy Hester, Alex Contancio, Andrew Contancio, and Travis Buehring.

Serving as honorary pallbearers were Shannon Hester, Kristen Buehring, Allison Bollman-Gorzell, Amanda Gorzell, Lauren, Jessica, and Julie Kosub, Shaun Gorzell, Alex Gorzell, Liz Gorzell, Shanna Gorzell, Ashton Gorzell, Brittany and Jordan Morales, and Francesca and Adriana Padron.
