ON-CALL CRISIS POOL WORKERS NEEDED. Part-time positions are available for after hours “on-call” crisis workers to respond to mental health crisis for Wilson and Karnes Counties. Duties include crisis interventions, assessments, referrals to stabilization services, and referrals for involuntary treatment services according to the Texas Mental Health Laws. You must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, sociology, social work, nursing, etc. On-call hours are from 5 p.m.-8 a.m. weekdays, weekends and holidays vary. If selected, you must attend required training and must be able to report to designated safe sites within 1 hour of request for assessment. Poth to host Baseball Camp

POTH -- John Maley, the University of the Incarnate Word Cardinal pitching coach and recruiting coordinator, is hosting a three-day camp July 15-17 for children ages 6-14. The camp will be held each day from 9 a.m. until noon at the Poth City Park baseball field. The fee is $150.

Before coaching at UIW, Maley had three successful seasons at Texas State University, and 11 years at St. Mary’s University. During those 14 seasons, Maley’s pitching staffs set nearly every league record. More than 65 of his pitchers have gone on to play professional baseball, including three at the major league level. He also won an NCAA National Championship in 2001.

Assisting in camp instruction are Orlando Gonzales, O.J. Garza, and Jimmy Kirk. Gonzales is from the RBI Rattler Baseball Academy, and Garza is the owner of First Class Hitting. Garza also spent time as a professional baseball player. Kirk is a former coach who spent time developing the Bearkats at Sam Houston State University.

The morning camps begin at 9 a.m., though campers may be dropped off any time after 8 a.m. Walk-up registration and payment will be allowed on the first day. Late enrollment does not guarantee a spot in camp.
