La Vernia physicals due Aug. 1
LA VERNIA -- La Vernia athletic trainer Leah Nickell reminds parents and students who plan to participate in sports during the 2014-15 school year to have sports physicals completed by Aug. 1.
La Vernia Independent School District requires all student athletes in grades 7-12 to have a complete physical exam. A physician, licensed physician’s assistant, nurse practitioner, or Doctor of Chiropractic may perform this physical exam.
Students are required to turn in the following forms prior to participation in any practices or games:
•Acknowledgement of rules
•Steroid testing agreement
Any high school athlete trying out for volleyball, football, or cross country must have a physical before he or she will be allowed to try out on Aug. 1. Other high school athletes should turn in the forms on or before the first day of school. Junior high athletes do not have any practices before school starts, so they may turn in the paperwork during registration or on the first day of school. Students are asked not to give physical packets to the coaches during weight room hours or camps.
Packets can be mailed to Leah Nickell, La Vernia High School, 225 Bluebonnet Road, La Vernia, TX 78121.
For more information, call Nickell’s office at 830-779-6630, or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
