East Central FFA celebrated 63 years of legendary success at its annual parent/member banquet held May 22 in San Antonio. An excellent meal was cooked by Tommy Kosub, David Schick, Kenneth Wildman, and Tim Zigmond. The meat was donated by Dwayne Padalecki of Texas Meat Purveyors.

The following supporters of the East Central FFA were awarded honorary memberships to the FFA: Ron Alexander, Amy Welty, Cindy Scramek, Heather Goode, Matthew Zaiontz, and Diane Zaiontz.

The following members have applied for their Lone Star FFA Degree: Steven Fanick, Lindsay Hamer, Paige Kosub, Dallas Polasek, Kearsten Pollok, Paige Plate, Sabra Williams, and Cheyenne Zaiontz. The Lone Star FFA Degree is the highest award that can bestowed upon its members.

One of the highlights of the evening was the recognition of the three teams that participated at national contests this past fall: Food Technology, Prepared Public Speaking, and AgriScience Fair. This fall, the Meats team will represent Texas at the National FFA Convention in Louisville, Ky.

Kylie Patterson and Johnna Pieniazek were recognized for being selected to represent the Alamo District FFA in the upcoming year.

The winners of the Proficiency Awards include Diversified Livestock, Jordan Hevner; Beef Production, Jordan Hevner; Poultry Production, Jordan Hevner, Stephenie Geistweidt, and Johnna Pieniazek; Specialty Animal Production, Crystalyn and Todd Bettice; Goat Production, Amy Beth Moran; Sheep Production, Amy Beth Moran; and Nursery Operations, Steven Fanick.

East Central FFA seniors have earned several scholarships including the Sara Strey Foundation Scholars and the Dennis Ellebracht Scholarship. In addition, Tommy Fletcher received the local San Antonio Livestock Show Scholarship.

Star Award winners included Shannon Zaiontz, Star Greenhand in Placement; Kelsey Walla, Star Greenhand in Production; Johnna Pieniazek, Star Chapter Degree winner in Production; and Kylie Patterson, AgriScience Research.

Star Lone Star Award winners in Production went to Paige Kosub and Cheyenne Zaiontz. Star Lone Star in Placement went to Steven Fanick. Outstanding Seniors were awarded to Jordan Hevner and Stephenie Geistweidt.

The chapter also gave special recognition to outgoing sweetheart, Sabra Williams, and the spring student teacher, Shelby Watson. Watson will be teaching at Winters High School in the fall.

After recognizing Williams, the new officers were installed.
