This series profiles area organizations that help meet needs in our communities.

Organization: Consolata Healthcare Foundation

What it does: The Consolata Healthcare Foundation’s sole purpose is to raise funds to benefit and enhance the services of Connally Memorial Medical Center in Floresville.

The foundation is currently focusing efforts on completing a $2.9 million pledge to support Wilson Memorial Hospital’s (now known as Connally Memorial Medical Center) Equipment Fund. Contributions can be made to meet the area of greatest need, or can be directed to a specific program or service.

Background: Consolata is named for Sister Mary Consolata, who was the first administrator of the Wilson Memorial Hospital, which was founded in 1960 by the Sisters of Divine Providence.

Among the foundation’s many contributions to Connally Memorial Medical Center have been a grant for a new information system, a grant for a new cardiac monitoring system, laparoscopic surgery supplies, a lighted sign, and Stryker Flyte Suits for the surgical services department.

How you can help: Your gift will help encourage continued growth of the foundation to benefit our patients and our community.

Monetary donations are welcome; these are fully tax deductible, up to 50 percent of your adjusted gross income for the tax year in which they occur. Cash gifts may also be pledged over many years.

There are many planned giving options available, which can provide considerable tax and income benefits to donors. Examples include charitable remainder trusts, charitable lead trusts, charitable remainder unitrusts, or charitable gift annuities. You can also support the foundation by participating in its fund-raisers.

The Consolata Healthcare Foundation has established a timeless tribute to recognize individuals, businesses, foundations, and organizations that make financial contributions. The Donor Recognition Wall will be located in the lobby of Connally Memorial Medical Center.

Events, fund-raisers: The Consolata Healthcare Foundation Golf Tournament is each April. This past spring, the tournament was held at River Bend Golf Club in Floresville. All proceeds from the tournament benefit Connally Memorial Medical Center.

The Consolata Healthcare Foundation also hosts a Denim and Diamonds Casino Night, planned this year for Saturday, Aug. 2, in the Floresville Event Center. Tickets are $65. Tables for eight are available for $500. Donations for the evening’s auction or drawing are welcome; contact the executive director or any foundation board member.

Contact: For more information, call Executive Director Amanda Richardson at 830-393-1313.
