Motorist flees after striking hydrant
FLORESVILLE -- Police here seek the public’s help in locating the driver responsible for striking a fire hydrant July 12 near the corner of U.S. 181 and Paloma Drive.
Detective George Ortiz of the Floresville Police Department said officials became aware of the situation when municipal water customers in the area began reporting low water pressure. The exact time of the incident is unknown, but it took Floresville Water and Sewer personnel the entire day and part of the next to correct the problem.
Other cases under investigation by police include two incidents involving what Ortiz said could be the same white Ford F-150 extended-cab pickup truck. On July 3, someone stole a halogen light bar from a vehicle parked outside Angell Flooring near the corner of U.S. 181 and Paloma Drive. A truck of the same description was seen July 11 in Pecan Park at approximately 10 p.m., after someone broke into a vehicle and stole a purse containing credit cards and other personal information.
Ortiz also reported that officers have stepped up patrols in the 1000 block of Third Street after receiving reports of items, such as scrap metal and welding equipment, being stolen from vehicles.
Anyone with information about these cases is urged to call the Floresville Police Department at 830-393-4055.
Anonymous tips -- for which cash rewards are given if they lead to an arrest or to the recovery of stolen property -- can be furnished to Crime Stoppers of Wilson County at 830-393-INFO (4636) or http://bit.ly/NDrIut.
