Pair faces multiple charges after local John Deere dealership break-in
FLORESVILLE -- Juan Francisco Cruz, 32, and 37-year-old Cecilio Paez, both of San Antonio, face multiple charges after officials say the pair broke into the yard of Tractor City on S.H. 97 east of here.
According to Investigator Gary Laughlin Jr. of the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office, a witness called 911 at approximately 10:30 p.m. July 20 to report seeing someone using a grinder to cut the lock on a gate at the John Deere dealership. The pair abruptly left and sheriff’s Deputy Joseph Martinez, who was en route to the scene, intercepted their vehicle -- which was towing a U-Haul trailer, later determined to have been stolen.
As a result of Martinez’s investigation, Cruz and Paez each were charged with:
•Unlawful use of a criminal instrument
•Two counts of criminal trespass, for allegedly cutting two neighboring fences to access the property
•Criminal mischief worth more than $50 but less than $500
•Criminal mischief worth less than $50
•Theft of property worth more than $1,500 but less than $20,000.
Both suspects were transported to the Wilson County Jail. Records indicate a $19,100 surety bond was posted for each suspect before their July 22 release.
