Help Wanted

Immanuel Lutheran Church is now hiring for a Youth and Family Ministry Director. Pastoral: Minister to youth and their families during Sunday School and other church programs, being present in their lives outside the church walls, available for common concerns and in crisis situations. Leadership: Recruit and nurture Youth and Family Ministry program. Administration : Manage the planning process and coordinate with Pastor and Youth Committee all regular ministries to youth and their families. This includes youth of all ages on Sunday mornings and mid-week events; assisting with Confirmation, special events, trips and retreats, and parent meetings. Stewardship: Ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of youth programs, manage youth ministry budget, and collaborate with the sponsors of each Youth group. Ability to build, lead, and empower youth. Ability to implement a ministry vision. Familiarity with Lutheran Doctrine required; must be comfortable teaching it and representing Lutheran Theology. Proficient computer skills using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database, email, internet, and social media. Supervisory experience preferred. Ability to adapt and evaluate curriculum preferred. Must have excellent organization, communication (verbal and written), and listening skills, with a high degree of initiative and accountability. Exceptional interpersonal and relational skills required, with sensitivity to church members and visitors. Understanding and enjoyment of youth and families and guiding their spiritual development. Alfred Jarzombek, a lifelong resident of Poth, Texas, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at 6:50 a.m. in the Regency Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Floresville at the age of 85 years, 4 months, and 4 days. Alfred was born March 19, 1929, in Poth, the son of Jacob and Annie Sekula Jarzombek.

After his schooling in Poth, Alfred worked for many faithful years as a meat packer with Decker. Alfred married Proxie Wiatrek on April 12, 1955, in the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Cestohowa. Alfred proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and a lifelong member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Poth.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sisters, Ruth Kutac, Pearl Kroll, Sylvia Skloss, and Magdalen Suchy.

Alfred is survived by his beloved wife of more than 59 years, Proxie Wiatrek Jarzombek of Poth; his children, Pamela Jarzombek of Floresville, Michael Jarzombek and wife Chantal of Fair Oaks Ranch, and Mark Jarzombek and wife Lisa of Floresville; his grandchildren, Spencer Jarzombek and Erica Jarzombek, both of Fair Oaks Ranch; his sister, Eleanor Young of Fort Worth; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Friday, July 25, at 5 p.m. with a recitation of the rosary at 6:30 p.m. in the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel in Poth.

A funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Poth, officiated by the Rev. Grzegorz Szewczyk.

Interment followed in the Blessed Sacrament Cemetery in Poth.

Serving as pallbearers were Raymond Kutac, Leroy Kutac, Harvey Suchy, Bill Young, Bruno Keller, and Joe Skloss.
