1934-2014

Travis Whitsett Bain II, 80, passed away peacefully in his home in Dallas, Texas, on Tuesday, July 29, 2014, after a brief illness. He was born March 4, 1934.

Throughout his life, Travis had a passion for leadership. A graduate of the University of Texas and Harvard Business School, Travis pursued his passion professionally as president of W.E. Walker Stores, Sunbelt Nursery, Jarman Shoe Company, and co-owner of Riverbend Sandler Pools. However, Travis will be best remembered for his leadership by example, achieving success with integrity and perseverance, honoring his commitment as a husband and partner with 52 years of marriage, demonstrating unconditional devotion and sacrifice to his children, and serving as a spiritual beacon of extraordinary faith.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Karlen Bain.

Travis is survived by his sister, Gladys Jenson; sons Whit and Jim; son-in-law J.R. McGinnis; nephews Bill, Walt, and Doug Jennings; niece Julie Buell; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, Aug. 2, at 10 a.m. in the Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church in Dallas.

Memorial donations may be made to the Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church, 9800 Preston Road, Dallas, TX 75230.
