Quirina Nieto Flores, a lifelong resident of Floresville, Texas, entered eternal rest Saturday, July 26, 2014, in the Floresville Residence and Rehabilitation Center in Floresville at the age of 84 years, 6 months, and 4 days. She was born Jan. 22, 1930, in Floresville, the daughter of Jesus and Maria Garcia Nieto.

Quirina was a homemaker who loved to crochet and garden. She married Fred Lara Flores on Nov. 3, 1946, in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Floresville, where Quirina was a lifelong member.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; and one sister.

Quirina is survived by her beloved husband of more than 67 years, Fred Lara Flores; her children, Fred Flores Jr., Rose Mary Castro and husband Alfred, Martha Robles, Jo Ann Guevara and husband Adolph, Cynthia Ramirez and husband Lorenzo, and Jessica Castillo and husband Jose; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, July 30, at 5 p.m. with a recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m. in the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville.

A funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Floresville, officiated by the Rev. Frank Kurzaj.

Interment followed in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Floresville.

Serving as pallbearers were Quirina’s granddaughter, Denise Castro, and her grandsons, Adolph Guevara, Fidel Robles, Lorenzo Ramirez, Jose Castillo Jr., and David Perez.
