Jourdan Brown named to conference leadership team
SAN MARCOS -- The Texas State University soccer team has received recognition for one player in particular. Senior captain Jourdan Brown is one of 10 student-athletes to be named to the Sun Belt Conference Leadership Team. The award is given to a letter-winning student-athlete based on leadership, sportsmanship, community service, citizenship, academic excellence, and any other qualities valued by the institution. Each institution was asked to nominate one student-athlete.
Jourdan maintains a 3.93 cumulative GPA at Texas State University and was named a captain for the women’s soccer team her junior season, as well as for her upcoming senior season. She is a dean’s list student for her career, and earned Sun Belt Commissioner’s List honors in 2013. She was nominated for the Outstanding Student-Athlete Award and won the Cream of the Crop Award in 2012 and 2013. Jourdan is a member of the Alpha Chi fraternity for educational honors, and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She volunteers with the Odyssey Hospice Center and the Hill Country Church.
Earlier this year, Jourdan, along with a few of her teammates, held soccer camps, led Bible studies for children, fed the elderly, and completed construction projects needed in a community in Nicaragua.
Joe and Tammy Brown of Belton are Jourdan’s proud parents, and she is the granddaughter of Joe and Leslie Brown of Floresville. Jourdan’s younger sister, Jamie, will attend Texas State University, also playing soccer, in the fall of 2015.
