The Floresville Athletic Booster Club will hold its annual Ice Cream Social Friday, Aug. 15, beginning at 7 p.m. at the Eschenburg Field.

The booster club invites all high school and middle school athletes, band members, parents, and the community to join in the fun. Come meet and greet Floresville’s coaches, varsity football players, tennis, volleyball, and cross-country teams, and also the Mighty Tiger Band. Those in attendance can cool off with some ice cream, and then sign up to join the athletic booster club. Spirit items will also be for sale.

Each high school athlete family is asked to bring a half-gallon of ice cream (one per family, not one per athlete) and each Mighty Tiger Band member is asked to bring one pack of 16-ounce sodas to the concession stand by 6:30 p.m.

Recently, the booster club elected new officers for the upcoming school year. The 2014-15 officers are President Terry Sendejo, First Vice President Carolyn Leal-Palacios, Second Vice President Stephanie Pierce, Third Vice President Ray Contreras, Reporter Celena Contreras, Treasurer Carol Pollok, and Secretary Denise Garcia.

Being an active member of the booster club will qualify senior athletes for scholarship opportunities at the end of the school year. The membership deadline to be eligible for senior scholarships is Friday, Oct. 31.

The next Floresville Athletic Booster Club meeting will be Wednesday, Aug. 6, at 7 p.m. at the Tigers Den. The booster club invites all Tiger and Jaguar parents and fans to join. Attending meetings will keep members informed and involved on what the boosters are doing for Floresville’s athletes, and how the athletes are doing throughout the year.

Any parent wishing to help at the ice cream social should call Celena Contreras at 830-581-9618.
