Michael Edward Flieller passed away Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2014, in his residence in Floresville, Texas. He was born on Nov. 15, 1955, to Edwin Joseph “Sonny” and Melba Traeger Flieller.

Michael was a 1974 graduate of Floresville High School. Afterward he went to work in the family feed and seed business, was a founding partner in the mid-1970s of The Pizza Garden Restaurant, and later followed his passion for law enforcement by becoming a constable in Wilson Country. Afterward, Michael began a 20-year career with the Texas State Prison system. He became a field sergeant, and was eventually promoted to field lieutenant at the John B. Connally unit of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice in Kenedy. Michael recently retired from the prison system, to spend more time with his children and grandchildren, who he greatly cherished. Michael will always be known to his family and friends as a jovial, fun-loving, tender-hearted, and faithful friend. He loved to joke, and to orchestrate the occasional prank on the people he was close to. He gave much of himself to those around him that were in need, and he enjoyed being involved in the lives and activities of his family. He will be greatly missed by those who were blessed by the bountiful love he shared with them, said his family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Sonny Flieller; stepfather John Dunn; sister Jean Ann Flieller; and stepsister Donna Dunn.

Michael is survived by his mother, Melba Dunn; his children, Tanya Bean and husband Damon, Marshall Flieller and wife Lynnette, and Savannah Hussey and husband Collin; his stepsons, Jonathan Flieller and Curtis Wallace; his grand-children, Shianne, Cohl, Austin, Rylan, Symbrey, Layne, and Sophia; his sisters, Sandy Compton and husband Lon and Le Ann Manhardt; his brother, Ed Flieller and wife Lynn; and his stepsiblings, Betty Freasier and husband James, Linda Dunn, Jay Dunn and wife Lexann, and Jack Dunn.

Visitation was held on Sunday, Aug. 10, from 5-8 p.m. in the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville.

A funeral service was held on Monday at 10 a.m. in the First Baptist Church in Floresville, officiated by Pastor Mike Clements and Deacon Scott Donaho.

Interment followed in the Floresville City Cemetery in Floresville.
