Register for storytelling workshop in Austin Sept. 8
AUSTIN -- On Sept. 8, the Texas Historical Commission (THC) and Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum in Austin will co-host a full-day workshop exploring storytelling and highlighting a variety of ways Texans can tell their stories. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Bullock Museum.
Storytelling is at the core of both organizations’ missions. The THC saves the real places that tell the real stories of Texas, while the Bullock Museum interprets the continually unfolding “Story of Texas.” Staff from both organizations will lead sessions about effective storytelling techniques, research, and marketing stories, including the importance of choosing words, images, and programs that engage audiences. A morning panel will include three very special guests: Liz Carmack, copywriter and editor for the Texas Association of Counties; Evan Thompson, executive director of Preservation Texas; and State Rep. Donna Howard, D-Austin.
The cost is $65, and attendees must register by Saturday, Aug. 23. Online registration is available.
For more information, call 512-463-5853.
