Search still on for missing police dog
Beeville Police Department K-9, Irk, has been missing since Aug. 8. A reward is offered for his return.
BEEVILLE -- The reward for information leading to the safe return of a police K-9 has risen to $6,000, according to Chief Joe Treviño of the Beeville Police Department.
Irk, a 3-year-old male German Shepherd dog, has been missing since escaping from his handler’s yard Aug. 8. He was wearing a leather collar with Beeville Police Department tags and a silver choke chain. Irk is brown over tan and weighs 67 pounds. He also has a surgically implanted microchip.
“At this time, we don’t suspect any foul play,” Treviño said. “It looks like he got out on his own.”
The reward includes $2,000 each from Coastal Bend Crime Stoppers, and Apollo Towing and dentist Brent Phelps, both of Corpus Christi. It can be claimed by anyone who either safely returns the dog or provides information that leads to him being located.
Beeville, the county seat of Bee County, is located approximately 61 miles south of Floresville.
