Doris M. Alston, 86, of San Antonio entered into rest on Thursday, Aug. 21, 2014. She was born on Nov. 23, 1927, in Davy, Texas, to Edwin and Lydia (Jaeger) Hengst.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents; and son-in-law Howard Morton.

She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, James F. Alston; children Barbara Ann Pape and husband Roland, Glenna Faye Dear and husband David, LaVonnia Gail Morton, and Brian Keith Alston and wife Kris; grandchildren Kenneth Dear and wife Jennifer, Jason Mooney and wife Kira, Kimberly Howard and husband Lance, Wade Pape and wife Lora, and Justin Mooney and wife Glenda; 14 great-grandchildren; sister Inez Lee Bues; brother Wilbert Hengst and wife Kathy; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends.

Visitation was held on Sunday, Aug. 24, from 5-7 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in La Vernia.

A funeral service was held on Monday at 2 p.m. in the Trinity Lutheran Church in San Antonio, officiated by the Rev. Edward J. Kern.

Interment followed in the Mission Burial Park South in San Antonio.
