Offer condolences


Hilda Salazar Castro, a longtime resident of Floresville, Texas, entered eternal rest Monday, Aug. 18, 2014, at 9:10 p.m. in the Methodist Texsan Heart Hospital in San Antonio at the age of 61 years, 10 months, and 14 days. Hilda was born Oct. 4, 1952, in Floresville, the daughter of Enrique “Henry” C. and Hilda Ximenez Salazar.

After graduation from Floresville High School and Incarnate Word University in San Antonio, Hilda worked for many faithful years as a professor with Northwest Vista College in San Antonio, and also helped to pioneer a program teaching English to students in China, through a collaboration with Incarnate Word University in San Antonio. After retiring, Hilda moved back to Floresville in 2006. Hilda was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Floresville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Harold John Salazar.

Hilda is survived by her children, Randolph Daniel Castro and wife Melissa and Suzanne Elisa Clothier and husband Ben, all of Converse; her grandchildren, Adam Frisby and wife Jessica of San Antonio, and Harold Clothier and Ryder Castro, both of Converse; her great-granddaughter, Lily Mae Frisby; her siblings, Hazel Palacios and husband George, Helen Sue Martinez and husband Leonel, Hermelina Talamantez and husband Joe, and Henry Salazar Jr. and wife Diana; the father of her children, Randy Castro; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation was held on Thursday, Aug. 21, at 5 p.m. with a recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m. in the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville.

A funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday at 11 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Floresville, officiated by Monsignor Frank Kurzaj. Serving as pallbearers were Leo Martinez, Joe Talamantez, Stephen Talamantez, Timothy Castro, Albert Basquez, and Adam Frisby.
