Immanuel Lutheran Church is now hiring for a Youth and Family Ministry Director. Pastoral: Minister to youth and their families during Sunday School and other church programs, being present in their lives outside the church walls, available for common concerns and in crisis situations. Leadership: Recruit and nurture Youth and Family Ministry program. Administration : Manage the planning process and coordinate with Pastor and Youth Committee all regular ministries to youth and their families. This includes youth of all ages on Sunday mornings and mid-week events; assisting with Confirmation, special events, trips and retreats, and parent meetings. Stewardship: Ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of youth programs, manage youth ministry budget, and collaborate with the sponsors of each Youth group. Ability to build, lead, and empower youth. Ability to implement a ministry vision. Familiarity with Lutheran Doctrine required; must be comfortable teaching it and representing Lutheran Theology. Proficient computer skills using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database, email, internet, and social media. Supervisory experience preferred. Ability to adapt and evaluate curriculum preferred. Must have excellent organization, communication (verbal and written), and listening skills, with a high degree of initiative and accountability. Exceptional interpersonal and relational skills required, with sensitivity to church members and visitors. Understanding and enjoyment of youth and families and guiding their spiritual development. Antonia Rodriguez Deleon, a lifelong resident of Floresville, Texas, entered eternal rest Friday, Aug. 22, 2014, at 2 p.m. in the Floresville Residence and Rehabilitation Center at the age of 82 years, 4 months, and 14 days. Antonia was born April 8, 1932, in Floresville, the daughter of David and Damiana Escobedo Rodriguez.

Antonia married Antonio M. Deleon on Oct. 22, 1950, in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Floresville, where they both were lifelong members. Antonio, Antonia’s beloved husband of more than 58 years, preceded her in death on Aug. 30, 2009. Antonia was a homemaker who had a beautiful voice and loved to sing.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Antonio M. Deleon; and her sons, Juan Deleon and Richard Deleon.

Antonia is survived by her children, Steve Deleon, Antonio “Tony” Deleon Jr. and wife Florinda, and Bobby Deleon, all of Floresville, Lynda Deleon of San Antonio, David R. Deleon and wife Soila of Floresville, Stella Casanova of San Antonio, Joe Deleon and wife Cindy and Tommy Deleon, all of Floresville, and Mary Lou Romero of San Antonio; her 19 grandchildren; her 21 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends.

Visitation was held on Sunday, Aug. 24, at 5 p.m. with a recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m. in the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville.

A funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Floresville, officiated by Monsignor Frank Kurzaj.

Interment followed in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Floresville.

Serving as pallbearers were Joe Deleon, Robert Casanova, Tony J. Deleon, James Hernandez, Marcos Ocejo, and Roy Juarez.
