Ramiro Rodriguez Montoya passed away on Friday, Aug. 22, 2014, in his residence in Cañada Verde, Texas, at the age of 52 years and 10 days. He was born Aug. 12, 1962, in Floresville to Eduviges Rodriguez and Leopoldo Montoya Sr.

He was a lifelong resident of Wilson County. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

He was preceded in death by his father, Leopoldo Montoya Sr.

Ramiro is survived by his wife, Rosemary Lopez Montoya of Cañada Verde; mother Eduviges Rodriguez of Waco; Grandmother Estrada of Comanche; sons Jacob Montoya of Cañada Verde and Jaime Christopher Peraza Jr. of Beeville; sisters Alicia Montoya of San Antonio and Rosalinda Rodriguez of Waco; brothers Leopoldo Montoya Jr. of Oklahoma and Victor Nieto of Comfort; grandchildren Jaime Christopher Peraza III and Victor Nieto; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

Visitation was held on Monday, Aug. 25, at 6 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. in the Franklin Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville.

A graveside service was held on Tuesday in the Montoya Cemetery in Cañada Verde, officiated by the Rev. Briones.

Serving as pallbearers were Jacob Montoya, Chris Peraza Jr., Leonard Jimenez, Rudy Arredondo, Victor Nieto, Nathan Favor, Leo Montoya Jr., and Filliberto Sanchez.
