Morning traffic in Floresville is diverted today, after a tractor-trailer rig loaded with round hay bales overturned just before 9 a.m.

According to Officer Kevin Swinehart of the Floresville Police Department, Michael Coulter, 62, of Joshua, Texas, was southbound on 10th Street (U.S. 181), and failed to control his speed as he turned onto S.H. 97 W. His load shifted, causing the tractor-trailer to roll onto its side onto the shoulder of the eastbound lane of S.H. 97. Traffic was diverted onto D and Sixth Streets in the accident’s wake.

Coulter suffered a minor abrasion, but there were no other injuries, Swinehart said.

“He was very, very lucky there were no cars in the eastbound lane,” Swinehart said.

A tow truck is en route to right the rig, at which time the roads may be closed.
