Services set for Elmendorf’s Chief Pimentel

Services for Elmendorf Police Chief Michael Pimentel -- slain during a traffic stop in Elmendorf Aug. 23 -- have been set for next Monday and Tuesday.

His family, in an emotional press conference Aug. 27, expressed their gratitude for the hundreds of expressions of support and sympathy from community members, law-enforcement agencies, and officials.

Chief Pimentel’s daughter, Malinda Lanford, read the prepared statement in the Elmendorf City Hall.

“The love and support... shown during this difficult time has been overwhelming,” she said. “... We find comfort in knowing my father was a man of God and we are assured that he is with his Heavenly Father. Being the kind of person my father was, we know that my father would want the force to move on to implement the values and morals that he believed in -- honesty, integrity, and honor.”

Services for the fallen officer will be Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 1 and 2.

Visitation is set for Monday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. in the chapel of Porter Loring Mortuary, 1101 McCullough Ave. in San Antonio. Overnight viewing is reserved for peace officers.

A funeral service will take place Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Cornerstone Church, 18755 Stone Oak Parkway in San Antonio.

A procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Those wishing to participate should be at Porter Loring by 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.
