A Verizon fiber communication line has been cut, affecting communications in the La Vernia area. Phone calls cannot be made or received outside of the 779 telephone exchange.

If an emergency exists and 911 does not work, contact the La Vernia Police Department at 830-779-4541, ext. 1.

Officials at 5 p.m. said it could take six hours to repair the line.
