The Wilson County News will follow this to present the facts as they are available.

From La Vernia ISD:

Dear La Vernia Community:

I would like to make you aware that the District received an allegation on Friday, January 30, 2015. The allegation concerned an inappropriate teacher and student relationship at the La Vernia High School. The La Vernia Independent School District takes these matters very seriously and took immediate action by placing the teacher on administrative leave during this ongoing investigation. The La Vernia Police Department was notified and a full investigation is taking place.

During this time, I recommend we continue to pull together and move forward with the quality of life that we all appreciate in our community. The La Vernia Independent School District is committed to student safety. Rest assured that all precautionary measures have been taken to ensure the safety of your children.

Sincerely,
José H. Moreno, Ed.D.
Superintendent
La Vernia Independent School District

7th gen.... Like Will Rogers said.... Some men learn by reading, some learn by observing, then some learn by peeing on an electric fence. I'm glad you have an ample pill supply. :-)

Carp/Catfish whatever: I reviewed your comments on the bond issue and have come to the conclusion you have first hand experience in utilizing bond companies. I was only pointing out LV teacher's salary based on public information.

7th Gen.... @...How do you know the bond was beyond the resources of accused?.... Simple, if the accused had the resources to make bond, then he would not have subjected himself to a extortion scheme to the tune of $8000.00. If... More ›

Those calling for a higher bail confirms that the lynch mob mentality is well and very much alive in Wilson county. Basically, they are demanding punishment of an accused citizen without the benefit of a trail. That should... More ›

7th Gen ... There is a reason that the bail bond industry donates money to judges, local and state officials connected to the confinement system. Just one more parasitic group that extracts money from the poor. They oppose... More ›

Catfish: How do you know the bond was beyond the resources of accused? Teachers in LV start at 35K. OBTW, using a bondman is his choice, he does not have to go down that road.

Emotion often inhibits the ability to render logical judgment. The 8th amendment also forbids excessive fines. When bail is set beyond the resources of accused citizens and they have to resort to the use of a bail bondsman,... More ›
