As we go into a new Floresville Peanut Festival year, I think it’s time there was a discussion about the ever-escalating costs for girls who participate. I understand it, in years past there were so many girls contending for the crown and court that they actually had to interview and be voted on. Now so few try because of the extreme cost that they barely have enough to make queen and court and the only vote necessary is to pick the queen. . . .

I wonder if those who are vigorously advocating others pay for someone else to play have daughters who might benefit from their advocacy. Just asking if 'follow the money' advice might apply.

Accomplished seamstresses were a fixture in most homes of my youth. Eat the flour, wear the sack, if not satisfied, your money back. Lots of kids wore clothes made out of these sacks.
