The 9th annual Wilson County Garden Day and S.T.A.R.S. Plant Sale are planned for Saturday, March 21, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Floresville Alternative Education Center, located at 335 Alternative Lane (take Sutherland Springs Road from U.S. 181 to get to Alternative Lane -- see map image).


Don't miss the following workshop presentations:
9:30 a.m. -- Chesney Migl -- Native snakes
10 -- Brian Davis -- Pecan & Fruit trees
10:30 -- Jerry Parsons -- tomatoes
11 -- Calvin Finch -- roses & Humming birds
11:30 -- Allen Coleman -- Honey bees



There will be many children's activities:
•Go Fish, Just Dig It, & Movie Theater
•Plant Walk/Cheerio Feeder
•Seed Card Bingo
•Pine Cone Bird Feeder
•Decorate a pot and plant a flower
•Face Painting
•Magician
•Build a Project! (sponsored by Home Depot from 11-1 for the first 100 youngsters)

Live music will be provided by the County Line Community Band from 10 a.m. to noon. Hear the live broadcast of "Gardening South Texas" from noon to 2 p.m. and meet Calvin Finch and Jerry Parsons of KLUP Radio.

Peruse the silent auction and vendors and buy plants. Food and drinks will be available, as well as hourly drawings and door prizes.

The S.T.A.R.S. Plant Sale will continue on after Garden Day, Monday through Thursday, March 23-26, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Floresville Alternative Education Center. Plants for sale include tomato plants -- Tycoon, Celebrity and other varieties -- vegetable plants, herbs, hanging baskets, trees, shrubs, and bedding plants. Rain barrels will also be for sale.

Wilson County Garden Day is sponsored by Milberger Nursery, KLUP AM 930 Radio, and the Wilson County News.

It's going to be a great day for gardening, even if things get a little wet! Please note that the workshops are held indoors!
