KARNES CITY -- The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has closed F.M. 3191 in Karnes County, due to damage from recent heavy rains.

F.M. 3191 is closed until further notice from S.H. 123 to F.M. 887 near the community of Cestohowa. Recent heavy rainfall caused a culvert to wash out and a portion of the road to collapse. TxDOT maintenance crews have backfilled the hole to eliminate safety concerns, but the road remains impassable.

Weather permitting, the contract to replace the culvert is expected to begin in late April. The preliminary estimate is F.M. 3191 could be closed for about 90 days.

For more information, contact or 361-808-2544.
