SALADO --The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has reopened traffic lanes in both directions of I-35 approximately 40 miles north of Austin, following damage to an overpass yesterday.

According to TxDOT’s Facebook page, “All lanes of I-35 in Salado are now open.”

The interstate was closed in both directions north of Georgetown, yesterday and into the night, after an oversized tractor trailer hit a beam of the F.M. 2484 overpass bridge that was under construction on I-35. The impact of the truck caused several beams to become dislodged and fall onto the roadway.

One driver was killed by the debris, according to news reports.
