Lady Justice returns to her place of honor
PAT KOPECKI — Wilson County Pct. 2 Justice of the Peace Sara Canady admires the restoration work on the statue of Lady Justice April 21, as workers prepare to hoist her back into place on the portico of the Wilson County Courthouse. The statue’s restoration is part of a major renovation and restoration of the historic courthouse in Floresville.

History was quietly being made April 21 at the Wilson County Courthouse, as Lady Justice was returned to her place of honor on the western portico of the historic structure. This marked only the second time the symbol of justice was removed, refurbished, and returned in the 131 years of the courthouse’s history, and the third time the statue has been restored. . . .

Sam, I know the symbolism of the blindfold and I also know the reality. If our laws were administered in the spirit of that symbolism, we soon would have far less laws.
