Compared to last report: Alfalfa and wheat hay prices were steady to $5 lower. Coastal Bermuda was mostly unchanged. Trade activity was light on light to moderate demand as rain made it difficult to move hay. According to the National Weather Service in the last week all of the state received at least 3 to 4 inches of rain. East, North, and South Texas had as much as 6 to 10 inches of rainfall in the past seven days. Harvesting new crop hay is at a standstill until fields are able to dry out. The lower hay prices is mainly due to the fact of producers wanting to move hay to get ready for the recently benefited rained on pastures when they are able to return to baling. The Panhandle was in much need of all the rain so it is a blessing and a curse; however, not many are willing to complain after being in a drought for several years. Prices for hay and pellets quoted per ton except where noted. . . .
